Semi conducting tape mainly made from semi EPR(Ethylene Propylene Rubber), non-vulcanizing and shelf-stable conductivity over a wide temperature range, easily to conform to irregular shapes and retains its conductivity when stretched.
Features of semi conducting tape
-Remains stable at 130° C and non-valcanizing
-Elongates easily to form irregular sharpes
-Resist cracking, solvents, U. V. And moisture
-Conformable to ensure good contact with the conductor or core.
-High tensile strength and tear resistance to allow high speed lapping.
-Good penetration resistance to prevent strike-through of the insulation.
-Can be printed for core identification.
Application of semi conducting tape
-Electrically rounds-off high voltage connectors and lugs
-Provides screen continuation for high voltage joints and termination
-Replaces semi-conducting layer beneath metallic shielf of damaged cables
-Forms conductive portion of stress cones
